Written Debate Challenge – Reformed Rican

A written debate challenge is being issues to the Reformed Rican (RR) for his repeated assertions that Dispensationalism destroys the Bible, and that we are “as close to heresy as you can get without actually being a heretic.”

Rather than engaging in productive discussions, the RR goes around on Facebook mocking dispensational theology, without backing up any of his claims (this has been going on for years). He has been confronted by others about this, but refuses to correct his erroneous understanding of our theology, so I believe it to be more productive at this point to discuss the issues he’s raising, rather than let him continue to go around on Facebook sharing false information about our theology.

My challenge to the RR is to put together a written document of all his concerns regarding dispensational theology, and allow for me to respond in full to that document and to show him why he has been misled regarding his understanding of our theology. It is my hope that through this engagement, RR will have a greater respect for his brothers and sisters who embrace a different theological viewpoint than he does, and that the mockery and strawmen will cease.

This is an in-house discussion, and should be treated as such. As O. Palmer Robertson (Covenantalist) once wrote:

“As the dispensational perspective is being evaluated, it should not be forgotten that covenant theologians and dispensationalists stand side by side in affirming the essentials of the Christian faith. Very often these two groups within Christendom stand alone in opposition to the inroads of modernism, neo-evangelicalism, and emotionalism. Covenant theologians and dispensationalists should hold in highest regard the scholarly and evangelical productivity of one another. It may be hoped that continuing interchange may be based on love and respect.”

UPDATE (May 3rd, 2024) – The RR has declined my proposal for a formal written debate:
